Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi as saying that the government acted swiftly after reports of the NEET paper leak surfaced, leading to the arrest of 13 people so far, and urged lawyers to help ensure the strictest punishment for those involved.
Rijiju said PM Modi described paper leaks as a “matter of concern for the entire nation” and called on all states and political parties to unite in tackling the crime.
“As soon as reports of the paper leak emerged, the government took immediate action. Thirteen people were arrested and sent to jail. At the same time, to ensure that students’ future was not affected, the NEET re-examination was prioritised and conducted without any delay in the declaration of results,” Rijiju quoted the Prime Minister as saying.
According to Rijiju, during the NDA’s ‘Mangal Milan’ programme, PM Modi appealed to lawyers to support efforts to secure the strictest possible punishment for those involved in paper leak cases to create a strong deterrent against such crimes.
The Prime Minister also stressed that the government’s focus would remain on the country’s youth and their future, Rijiju said, adding that PM Modi praised Skyroot Aerospace for the successful launch of Vikram-1 as an example of young Indians’ achievements.
Rijiju said the Prime Minister also reviewed the government’s recent achievements, including the signing of free trade agreements with several countries, which he said would benefit farmers and the country.
On the ongoing Monsoon Session, Rijiju said the NDA would remain united to ensure the passage of government legislation and appealed to the Opposition to cooperate in the smooth functioning of Parliament.
