The Centre has invited suggestions from students, parents, teachers, academic institutions and other stakeholders as part of an exercise to reform the country’s public examination system, including examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The government has constituted a High-Powered Task Force (HPTF), headed by Nandan Nilekani, to examine and recommend comprehensive reforms covering the conduct, security, design and governance of public examinations.
The task force is examining measures aimed at strengthening institutional systems and processes, enhancing examination integrity and security, deploying appropriate technologies, augmenting examination infrastructure, improving accessibility and inclusion, and safeguarding the well-being of students.
The objective is to develop a robust, secure, transparent, equitable and future-ready public examination system.
As part of the public consultation, the HPTF has invited suggestions from students and candidates, parents, teachers and academic institutions, examination-conducting and test-indenting bodies, subject matter experts, technology professionals, industry organisations, civil society groups and other interested stakeholders.
The suggestions can cover several areas, including the conduct and security of examinations, examination design and assessment methodology, governance and accountability, and prevention, detection and redressal of examination malpractices.
Stakeholders have also been encouraged to provide inputs on the use of technology, including secure computer-based testing, creation and augmentation of examination infrastructure, and development of an inclusive examination framework to improve access for people across social, economic, regional and linguistic groups.
Other areas include transparency, grievance redressal and stakeholder communication, as well as measures to promote student well-being throughout the examination process. Stakeholders can also suggest any other measures that could strengthen the examination system.
The government said the inputs received through the consultation will assist the High-Powered Task Force in formulating its recommendations to the government.
Stakeholders can submit their suggestions by September 13, 2026, through the task force’s dedicated website, phone, WhatsApp or email. Submissions can be made in English, Hindi and regional languages.

The HPTF has urged stakeholders to participate actively and provide constructive and wide-ranging inputs to help shape reforms in the public examination system.
