Indian women wrestlers added three more medals to the country’s tally at the U20 World Championships in Slovakia, with Mansi Lather winning silver and Tanvi Gundesh Magdum and Komal securing bronze medals.
In the 68kg final, Mansi was edged 1-2 by China’s Chenling Song in a closely contested bout, settling for the silver medal.
India added two more medals in the bronze medal playoffs. Tanvi defeated Canada’s Agnia Krakovska 10-4 in the 57kg category, while Komal overcame Hungary’s Eda Balazs 5-2 in the 59kg division to claim bronze.
Earlier on Friday, Kajal Dhochak won gold in the women’s 76kg category, while Tanu Sharma and Savita secured silver medals in their respective weight divisions.
Eighteen-year-old Kajal defeated China’s Jingru Sun 7-0 in the 76kg final to claim the world title. The victory added to her previous U17 World Championship title in the 69kg category in 2024 and the U20 World Championship crown in the 72kg division in 2025.
Kajal has also won gold at the U23 Asian Championships and the Budapest Ranking Series earlier this year.
In the 72kg final, Tanu put up a strong challenge against Japan’s Chisato Yoshida but lost 3-5 to settle for silver. Savita also finished with silver in the 62kg category after suffering a 2-12 defeat by technical superiority against Japan’s Sakura Onishi in the final.
With the competition entering its final phase, the Indian contingent will next compete in the remaining men’s freestyle categories of 57kg, 65kg, 79kg and 92kg.
