Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday paid homage to Bharat Ratna Nanaji Deshmukh on his birth anniversary, recalling his contributions to rural development, self-reliance and nation-building.
In a post on X, PM Modi said, “Paying homage to Nanaji Deshmukh on his birth anniversary. He is fondly remembered as a remarkable nation-builder who demonstrated in thought and action that true transformation begins at the grassroots. His life combined political conviction with constructive social action, devoting himself to rural development and community participation.”
“We will leave no stone unturned in realising his vision for a strong and self-reliant India,” he added.
HM Shah, in a Hindi post on X, remembered Deshmukh as a pioneer of national development through village development and a dedicated servant of the nation.
He said Deshmukh embodied the values of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and devoted himself entirely to uplifting the most disadvantaged, promoting rural development and fostering self-reliance.
“His unwavering commitment to the organisation and incomparable contribution to nation-building will always remain an example for young people to follow,” the Home Minister said.
Defence Minister Singh described Deshmukh as a profound thinker, social reformer and pioneer of rural upliftment whose life exemplified sacrifice, service and selfless action.
“He devoted all his resources, energy and time to rural development, village self-governance and the upliftment of the most disadvantaged,” Singh said in a Hindi post on X.
The Defence Minister added that Deshmukh’s dedication to humanity and contribution to nation-building would continue to inspire future generations.
