Prime Minister Narendra Modi will grace the valedictory session of the Departmental Summit on Women and Child Development in New Delhi on October 9, with the two-day summit focusing on reimagining Anganwadi centres for better nutrition and early education and strengthening the protection system for vulnerable children.
The Prime Minister will address the gathering on the occasion.
The Summit, being held on October 8-9, also deliberates on women’s safety through effective implementation of institutional and legislative frameworks, and women’s empowerment through enhancing the effectiveness and outcomes of key schemes.
The summit witnesses participation of political leadership and officials dealing with the women and child development sector from all States. It is the second in a series of Departmental Summits envisioned by the Prime Minister to strengthen cooperative federalism, foster collective ownership of national priorities and accelerate outcomes through closer Centre-State collaboration, said a press release by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The Departmental Summit model brings together stakeholders from the Union and State Governments to deliberate on sectoral priorities, share good practices, address implementation challenges and agree on time-bound actions for improved governance and service delivery.
