In a significant initiative aimed at celebrating the 9th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Ministry of Women and Child Development is gearing up for the “Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” campaign as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) program. This event, scheduled for October 1, 2023, at 10 am and lasting for an hour, is poised to make a remarkable impact on cleanliness and hygiene across India.
The Swachh Bharat Mission, a flagship project of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, launched the SHS-2023 program, which runs from September 15th to October 2nd, 2023. The central theme of SHS-2023 is to strive for a “Garbage Free India” by emphasizing visible, high-level cleanliness through collective effort and community involvement. The Ministry of Women and Child Development is steadfast in ensuring that cleanliness activities occur with active community participation and deliver tangible results on the ground.
A staggering 29,000 events are planned for this campaign, with an expected participation of over 1.5 million individuals. These efforts will be coordinated through Anganwadi Centres, One Stop Centres, and the offices of the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD) under the Ministry’s purview, all under the banner of “Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath.”
The primary focus of these cleanliness drives will be on public areas, including those in close proximity to Anganwadi Centres, bus stands, railway stations, beaches, tourist destinations, riverfronts, ghats, and drains, spanning both rural and urban areas across various states and union territories. Moreover, special awareness campaigns within Anganwadi Centers aim to educate children, pregnant women, and lactating women about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
The remarkable enthusiasm and active participation observed in this campaign highlight the dedication and commitment of diverse stakeholders who are determined to achieve a cleaner and healthier environment. As the “Ek Tareekh, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath” campaign unfolds, it promises to leave a lasting imprint on India’s quest for cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring that the Swachh Bharat Mission continues to thrive as a symbol of India’s commitment to a brighter, cleaner future
