New Delhi is all set to host the G20 Summit under India’s Presidency between September 9 to 10. The preparations are in full swing to leave no stone untuned and make the event a massive success. In regards with it, the authorities are ensuring no loopholes, with several security measures in place, including restrictions in movement of people and vehicles.
However, it is doing rounds that the national capital will be in a lockdown during the final days of the Summit. According to Delhi Police, an email sent out by MakeMy Trip falsely claims that Delhi is closed from September 08th to 10th, 2023. The Delhi Police has quashed the rumours and asked people to not believe in false claims.

“Whole Delhi is Open. Just a small part of NDMC area will have restrictions,” read an update from Delhi Police on the social media platform, X. It added that all essential services will remain open.
It has come to our attention that some news agencies are misinterpreting and miscommunication the restrictions, that are to be imposed in New Delhi area in the wake of G20 Summit, Delhi Police added. It said that the use of misleading headlines is causing confusion in the minds of the public and news readers.

“It is once again reiterated that restrictions are only imposed in a small portion of NDMC area,” Delhi Police clarified. Further, the authority has also asked news agencies to publish accurate details in full consonance to avoid any ambiguity.
What are the guidelines?
The Delhi Traffic Police has issued advisory ahead of the G20 Summit. It has issued specific guidelines for different modes of transport in the capital. According to the advisory, Traffic Regulations are as follows:
▪️ The non-destined vehicles will be diverted towards Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways.
▪️ Heavy, medium and light good vehicles will not be allowed to enter Delhi.
▪️ Interstate buses will have terminating points on the Ring Road.
▪️ Buses in Delhi will be operating on Ring Road and towards the borders of Delhi. Further, these will be allowed to exit from Delhi.
▪️ New Delhi District will be considered as “Controlled Zone-I” from 5 am on September 8 to 11:59 pm on September 10. Residents, authorized and emergency vehicles will be allowed to travel.
▪️ General traffic will be allowed into Delhi from Rajokari Border. This will be diverted from NH-48 to Rao Tula Ram Marg – Olof Palme Marg. No vehicular movement will be allowed on NH-48 towards Dhaula Kuan.
▪️ Commercial, goods vehicles and city buses will not be allowed to ply on Mathura Road, Bhairon Road & Purana Quila Road from midnight of 7-8 September to midnight of 10-11 September.
Advisory for Airport travel
Via Metro services:
In view of traffic regulations, motorists might experience longer travel times than usual. Hence, passengers are requested to make travel plans with sufficient time at hand and make maximum use of Metro services, especially the Airport Express Line (Orange Line) connecting New Delhi Station to Dwarka Sector 21 Station via IGI Airport T3.
Further, passengers travelling from different parts of Delhi to Airport are advised to avail the following metro services:
— From Dwarka to T3: Blue Line till Dwarka Sector 21 Station and Airport Express Line till IGI Airport T3
— From New Delhi to T3: Yellow Line till New Delhi Station and Airport Express Line till IGI Airport T3
OR
— Orange Line from Shivaji Stadium till IGI Airport T3
— From South Delhi to T3: Pink Line till Dhaula Kuan Station and Airport Express Line till IGI Airport T3
OR
— Magenta Line till Hauz Khas Station, Yellow Line till Dilli Haat-INA Station, Pink Line till Durgabhai Deshmukh South Campus Station and Airport Express Line till IGI Airport T3
— From West Delhi to T3: Blue Line till Rajouri Garden Station, Pink Line till Durgabhai Deshmukh South Campus Station and Airport Express Line till IGI Airport T3
— From North Delhi to T3: Red Line till Kashmere Gate Station, Yellow Line till New Delhi Station and Airport Express Line till IGI Airport T3
Similarly, for passengers travelling via road to the airport have been cautioned about the traffic and advised to make travelling plans accordingly.
In general, all government departments, offices, organizations, boards, educational institutions located in Delhi shall remain closed from September 8-10.

— All commercial banks, financial institutions, shops, commercial and business establishments situated within the jurisdiction of New Delhi Police District shall remain closed September 8-10.
