Hardik pandya | Pandya injury update | India vs New Zealand

CWC 2023: Hardik Pandya ruled out of New Zealand clash, will join team in Lucknow

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be absent from India’s World Cup match against New Zealand, after injuring his left ankle injury during India’s 7-wicket victory against Bangladesh on Thursday.

Pandya will rejoin the team in Lucknow for their game against England.

On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a media advisory to provide an update on Pandya’s condition. The statement read, “Team India vice-captain Hardik Pandya sustained a left ankle injury while fielding during India’s match against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The all-rounder underwent scans and has been advised to rest.”

Pandya will be under the constant supervision of the BCCI Medical Team and will miss India’s match against New Zealand on Sunday in Dharamshala.

Pandya sustained the injury in the ninth over of Bangladesh’s innings. The all-rounder tried to stop the ball with his right leg in his followthrough and slipped in the process. As a result, he twisted his left ankle.

The 30-year-old appeared to be in pain and received treatment on his left leg, with his ankle being taped. He made a brief effort to continue but did not appear to be in good form and had to leave the field.

Virat Kohli, who had not bowled since 2017, stepped in to complete the over in his place.

India will now play against New Zealand at Dharamshala on Sunday.
