Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) is set to showcase several systems and technologies during the 75th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path on January 26.

This year’s DRDO tableau carries the theme “Women power in protecting the nation by providing the defence shield in all 5 dimensions namely Land, Air, Sea, Cyber, and Space.” The contingent will be led by the accomplished scientist Smt Sunita Devi Jena, highlighting the invaluable role played by women in core areas of Defence Research.

The tableau will feature a range of cutting-edge technologies, including the Man Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile (MPATGM), Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Missile, Agni-5 Surface-to-Surface Ballistic Missile, Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS), Naval Anti-Ship Missile–Short Range (NASM-SR), Anti-Tank Guided Missile ‘HELINA,’ Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile (QRSAM), Astra, Light Combat Aircraft ‘Tejas,’ ‘Uttam’ Active Electronically Scanned Array Radar (AESAR), Advanced Electronic Warfare System ‘Shakti,’ Cyber Security systems, Command Control Systems, and the Semi-Conductor Fabrication Facility.

Among these technologies, the ASAT Missile used in Mission Shakti marks a significant breakthrough, demonstrating India’s anti-satellite technology and precision strike capability. India stands as the fourth country globally to possess such specialized and modern capabilities. The Agni-5, a surface-to-surface ballistic missile known for its high accuracy, will also be showcased.

The indigenously developed MPATGM, NASM-SR, VSHORADS, and HELINA highlight the diverse capabilities of DRDO in creating advanced anti-tank and anti-ship missile systems, as well as air defence systems for short-range threats. The QRSAM, Astra, and LCA Tejas contribute to the arsenal of air defence and tactical fighter aircraft, showcasing India’s self-sufficiency in these crucial areas.

The Uttam AESAR, a multimode, solid-state active phased array fire control radar, and the ‘Shakti’ Advanced Electronic Warfare System exemplify DRDO’s commitment to developing state-of-the-art technologies for the Indian Navy.

Additionally, various other systems and technologies developed by DRDO, including Pinaka, Nag Missile System, mobile bridging system ‘Sarvatra,’ Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM), Weapon Locating Radar ‘Swathi,’ will be displayed in different contingents of the Armed Forces.

The flypast by the Indian Air Force will feature the LCA Tejas and AEW&C developed by DRDO, further highlighting the organization’s integral role in bolstering India’s defence capabilities.

The Republic Day Parade serves as a platform to showcase these achievements, reinforcing India’s commitment to advancing its defence capabilities on multiple fronts.
