Minister of State for DXZ is set to inaugurate a three-day national workshop on “Healthy Village towards Healthier Tomorrow” on Thursday in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
Organized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) in collaboration with the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, the workshop will focus on the localization of sustainable development goals in gram panchayats through adopting thematic approaches, specifically addressing the theme Healthy Village.
The workshop aims to showcase exemplary strategies, convergent actions, and innovative models related to health parameters, preventive measures for communicable and non-communicable diseases, and the integration of village health plans into gram panchayat development plans (GPDP).
It seeks to gather insights on promoting healthy villages through various preventive measures, reducing malnutrition and lifestyle diseases, and ensuring accessibility to quality health services by the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
The interactive group discussions will revolve around topics such as the role of gram panchayats in preventive measures, availability and accessibility of quality healthcare services, addressing malnutrition issues, palliative care for the elderly, and the role of gram panchayats in combating lifestyle diseases.
The workshop, with over 800 participants from 24 states and UTs, serves as a collaborative platform for knowledge-sharing and strategizing towards building a healthier future. Localizing sustainable development goals (LSDGs) aims to address specific challenges and opportunities at the grassroots level, with the theme of healthy village focusing on the holistic development of local communities.
