Former Deputy PM Lal Krishna Advani to receive Bharat Ratna

In a recent Twitter post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the prestigious Bharat Ratna award for Lal Krishna Advani. The veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Deputy Prime Minister will be honored for his significant contributions to the nation.

PM Modi expressed his joy and congratulated Advani, praising him as a revered public figure. Advani’s remarkable journey, from grassroots work to serving as Deputy Prime Minister, was highlighted. PM Modi emphasized Advani’s impactful roles as Home Minister, Minister of Information, and Broadcasting Minister, noting his exceptional parliamentary interventions.

Advani, the seventh Deputy Prime Minister of India from 2002 to 2004 under Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government, previously served as the Home Minister in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance from 1998 to 2004. Recognized as one of the key founders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, he also led as the Leader of the Opposition during the 10th and 14th Lok Sabha.

Having received the Padma Vibhushan in 2015, India’s second-highest civilian honor, Advani’s upcoming Bharat Ratna further acknowledges his enduring impact on the nation’s development.
