The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall or snowfall in various parts of Sikkim, with an orange alert issued for Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
According to the weather agency, isolated hailstorms are expected over Gangetic West Bengal on Thursday. Moreover, over the next two days, intense rainfall spell with isolated heavy rainfall is likely to continue over Northeast India.
Additionally, Odisha is likely to witness isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning from February 22 to 24. This weather pattern is attributed to high moisture levels from the Bay of Bengal affecting Northeast India.
Furthermore, a fresh western disturbance is expected to impact the Western Himalayan Region starting from the night of February 24. As a result, scattered to fairly light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are anticipated over the Western Himalayan Region from February 24 to 27.
In contrast, hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Kerala on February 22 and 23.
