“Understand pain of people who lost despite constantly spreading lies”: PM Modi in Lok Sabha

In a speech to the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi defended his government’s record and took aim at the opposition INDIA bloc, suggesting they were spreading “lies” despite their recent electoral defeat.

Responding to the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s Address, PM Modi asserted that the people had endorsed the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) by electing it for a third consecutive term. He claimed this victory was a testament to the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and its commitment to the principle of appeasement of none, justice for all.

The Prime Minister praised first-time MPs for their contributions to the debate, saying they had enhanced the dignity of the House with their conduct and views. He emphasized that his government’s policies and decisions are guided by the motto – India first.

“The country has blessed us for our zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. Today India’s credibility has increased across the world…The sole aim of our every policy, every decision, every action has been India first,” he said.

PM Modi said, “I can understand the pain of some people who suffered a huge defeat despite spreading lies continuously.” This remark is in reference to the INDIA bloc’s poor showing in the recent Lok Sabha polls.

The speech was briefly interrupted by opposition members attempting to raise the issue of ethnic violence in Manipur. Speaker Om Birla intervened, expressing displeasure at the behavior of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, whom he accused of directing opposition members to enter the well of the House.

PM Modi also addressed the topic of appeasement politics, saying that India had long suffered under such governance models.

“This country has seen the politics of appeasement for a long time and the model of governance of appeasement for a long time…’Hum tushtikaran nahi santushtikaran ke vichaar ko lekar chalein hai’,” he said.

PM Modi also expressed the government’s resolve to work for a developed India.

“I assure the countrymen that we have taken the resolution of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and we will make efforts to fulfil that resolution and we will do it with full dedication and honesty and we will spend every moment of our time to fulfil this resolution,” he said.
