India continues to dominate the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC), overcoming challenging weather conditions to secure a series sweep over Bangladesh. Following their 2-0 series win in Kanpur, India extended their lead at the top of the standings.
India remains firmly in first place with eight wins from 11 matches, amassing 98 points and holding a point percentage of 74.24%. Australia and Sri Lanka trail behind as the closest contenders. Australia sits in second place with 90 points from 12 matches and a point percentage of 62.50%, while Sri Lanka’s recent 2-0 sweep against New Zealand lifted them to third. The Sri Lankan side has won five of their nine matches, earning 60 points with a point percentage of 55.56%.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh dropped to seventh in the standings despite showing resilience against India. In their eight matches, Bangladesh secured three wins, with 33 points and a point percentage of 34.38%.
The second Test was heavily impacted by rain, with Days 1, 2, and 3 disrupted, resulting in Bangladesh’s first innings stretching over four days. Bangladesh eventually posted 233 runs, largely due to Mominul Haque’s 107.
In response, India came out aggressively, declaring at 285/9 in just 34.4 overs. Their fast-paced innings set several milestones, as they became the quickest team to reach 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 runs in a single Test inning. India’s approach earned them a 52-run lead.
Bangladesh struggled in their second innings, managing only 146 runs, which allowed India to comfortably chase down the target, securing a 7-wicket victory.
