Massive crackdown on terror networks in J&K’s Kathua; several suspects arrested

Security forces on Thursday conducted multiple raids on suspected terrorist hideouts in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district.

The joint operation, led by the J&K Police and CRPF, targeted 17 locations across the district.

During the raids, 10 overground workers and suspected terrorists were identified and arrested or detained. Authorities also seized electronic devices as evidence. An FIR has been registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the BNS Act, and the EMICO Act.

Apart from hinterland areas of Kathua, raids were also conducted in border areas of Kana Chack, Haria Chack, Spral Pain, and Chack Wajir Lahbju.

The operations follow recent actions by security forces, which resulted in the elimination of three foreign terrorists affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad during two separate joint operations in upper Kathua and surrounding areas.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has also been conducting raids across Jammu and Kashmir to prevent terrorist activities.

On November 21, the NIA raided eight locations related to a terrorist infiltration case, and a day earlier, it arrested an individual wanted in connection with a 2020 Kashmir narco-terror case.
