AI in 2025: What to expect and how it will reshape the world

While 2024 marked the year businesses began integrating AI, 2025 is poised to witness its customization to meet specific needs across industries.

The coming year is expected to see AI adoption across enterprises and domains such as customer interactions, education, corporate learning, and robotics. AI is anticipated to become the most discussed technology in 2025, playing a pivotal role in devices, industries, and society as a whole.

Ganesh Gopalan, Co-Founder and CEO of Gnani.ai, stated, “2024 was a transformative year for generative AI, reshaping industries ranging from customer service to creative innovations. In 2025, the widespread adoption of Small Language Models (SLMs) and Speech-to-Speech Large Language Models (LLMs) will revolutionize sectors such as customer support, healthcare, BFSI, automotive, and telecom.” These technologies promise precise, low-latency solutions tailored to specific linguistic requirements, with SLMs delivering unmatched accuracy for niche tasks and Speech-to-Speech LLMs enabling seamless, real-time multilingual communication.

Agentic AI, which autonomously adapts and learns, is set to empower businesses with proactive decision-making and enhanced operational intelligence. Gopalan added, “These advancements will redefine generative AI, ushering in an era of intuitive, efficient, and personalized global interactions.”

In the education sector, AI is expected to bring transformative innovations. Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Vice-Chancellor of the World University of Design, explained, “Advancements in AI, VR, and AR have opened new frontiers, redefining education for the modern era. We foresee increased demand for high-quality design education across diverse sectors, driven by global trends and the need for adaptable, creative thinkers.” Dr. Yajulu Medury, Vice-Chancellor of Mahindra University, added that AI platforms would create personalized learning pathways, helping students achieve their full potential while bridging learning gaps. He further noted, “In 2025, we anticipate stronger integration of emerging technologies like AR and VR for immersive and secure learning experiences.”

The impact of AI will also drive advancements in robotics. Puru Rastogi, Co-Founder and CEO of Mowito, highlighted, “AI and robotics technologies will set new benchmarks by enabling real-time decision-making, predictive maintenance, and smarter robots. AI-driven automation will fuel scalable growth and industrial prosperity. The future is clear—2025 will herald a new era of agility and innovation.”

As AI takes center stage in technological innovations, the importance of chipsets will grow significantly. Anku Jain, Managing Director of MediaTek India, observed, “Technologies like Agentic AI, GenAI, advanced LLMs, and cloud computing have triggered a tectonic shift in the industry.”

From digital payments to transforming how information is accessed, AI’s influence will permeate everyday life. Matthew Foxton, India Regional President and Executive Vice-President of Branding and Communications at IDEMIA Group, remarked, “In 2025, cryptography, tokenization, and biometric authentication will drive further innovation. The rise of embedded payments, connected devices, and hyper-connectivity—particularly in the automotive sector—will create smarter, faster, and more secure transaction ecosystems.”

AI is reshaping how we live and work. By 2025, its influence will span every facet of daily life, from the devices we use to industries, jobs, and even how we search for information.
