Asteria Aerospace enhances Indian army’s eyes in the sky with supply of AT-15 VTOL drones

Asteria Aerospace has completed its largest-ever delivery of AT-15 Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) drones to the Indian Army. This landmark achievement underscores the company’s commitment to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative while catering to the specialized needs of defence and homeland security.

Neel Mehta, Director and Co-founder of Asteria Aerospace, hailed the accomplishment as a pivotal moment for India’s defence innovation. “This delivery of indigenously developed AT-15 drones to the Ministry of Defence demonstrates our dedication to equipping our forces with cutting-edge surveillance technology,” said Mehta.

“These drones offer unmatched performance in high-altitude areas, integrated high-resolution cameras for day and night operations, and precision artillery targeting capabilities. We are confident they will significantly enhance the Army’s operational readiness.”

The AT-15 drone is a state-of-the-art surveillance platform designed for extreme conditions. Its innovative blended wing design ensures superior aerodynamics and wind resistance, enabling seamless operations at altitudes of up to 6,000 metres. Equipped with vertical takeoff and landing functionality, the drone can operate from confined spaces, making it ideal for tactical deployments in challenging terrains.

With a flight time of up to 120 minutes and a range of 20 kilometres, the AT-15 excels in long-duration reconnaissance missions. Its integrated electro-optical and infrared (EO-IR) payload with high-zoom capabilities ensures reliable intelligence gathering in diverse lighting conditions. Constructed entirely from composite materials, the drone combines durability with portability, meeting the dynamic requirements of modern warfare.

Asteria Aerospace’s 28,000-square-foot facility in Bengaluru serves as the hub for designing and manufacturing these advanced drones. The facility houses a DSIR-recognized R&D lab, ensuring adherence to global quality standards. To further strengthen its presence, the company also operates a strategic office in Gurugram, catering to its government and defence clientele.
