The Consulate General of India in Brisbane hosted the Indian women’s cricket team at the Brisbane Club ahead of their second ODI against Australia, scheduled for Sunday at the Allan Border Field.
Team India is currently on a tour of Australia for a three-match ODI series.
The official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the BCCI Women posted: “The Consulate General of India, Brisbane hosted #TeamIndia at the Brisbane Club ahead of the 2nd ODI at the Allan Border Field. #AUSvIND”.
In the first ODI on Thursday, Australia defeated India by five wickets. Electing to bat first, India struggled with regular fall of wickets. Jemimah Rodrigues (23 off 42 balls, one four) was the only batter to cross 20 runs.
Australian pacer Megan Schutt delivered a stellar performance, claiming 5/19 in 6.2 overs, including the key dismissals of Priya Punia, Smriti Mandhana, and Richa Ghosh. Kim Garth, Ashleigh Gardner, Annabel Sutherland, and Alana King chipped in with a wicket each.
During the chase, Australia overcame early setbacks thanks to unbeaten contributions from Georgia Voll (46* off 42 balls, six fours, and a six) and Phoebe Litchfield (35 off 29 balls, eight fours). The hosts secured a comfortable five-wicket win with over 33 overs to spare.
For India, Renuka Singh (3/45) and Priya Mishra (2/11) put up commendable bowling performances but lacked enough runs on the board for support.
After the second ODI, the series will conclude with the third match on December 11, Wednesday, at the WACA Stadium in Perth.
