Vande Bharat sleeper trains set to revolutionize long-distance rail travel with 180 km/h speed and luxury

The introduction of Vande Bharat sleeper trains marks a transformative leap for Indian Railways, extending its world-class travel experience to long-distance commuters.

Following the success of Vande Bharat Express chair car trains on short and medium distances, the sleeper variant is now being tested to offer a similar combination of speed, safety, and luxury for longer routes.

These trials, conducted at a peak speed of 180 km per hour, signify a new era in rail travel for commuters.

The successful trials in Rajasthan’s Kota Division highlight the train’s potential to revolutionize long-distance travel.

A video posted by Union Minister of Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on social media showcases the comfort and stability of the ride, where a full glass of water remained undisturbed even as the train reached 180 km/h.

As trials continue under the supervision of RDSO, the trains will undergo a final evaluation by the Railway Safety Commissioner before being certified and inducted into regular service.

The Vande Bharat sleeper trains will feature automatic doors, ultra-comfortable berths, onboard WiFi, and an aircraft-like design, offering passengers a luxurious travel experience, reducing travel time on long routes such as Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Delhi to Mumbai, and Howrah to Chennai.

Currently, the fastest long-distance trains, such as the Tejas Rajdhani Express, operate at a maximum speed of 140 km/h. With Vande Bharat trains achieving higher speeds, passengers can look forward to faster, more efficient journeys.

Indian Railways is set to elevate the standard of long-distance rail travel, bringing speed, comfort, and modern amenities to commuters across the nation.
