Summit will go long way in highlighting growth opportunities in Assam: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday highlighted Assam’s growing investment potential, stating that the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit will play a crucial role in showcasing the state’s development and economic opportunities.

“Attended the Advantage Assam Summit. Over the last decade, Assam has witnessed significant development, making it an attractive investment destination. This summit will go a long way in highlighting growth opportunities across various sectors,” PM Modi posted on X.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi inaugurated the two-day summit in Guwahati, alongside Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, several Union and state ministers, foreign envoys, and top industry leaders. The event, held at Khanapara Veterinary College field, aims to attract investments and accelerate economic growth in Assam.

Describing Advantage Assam 2.0 as a “grand campaign” to connect global investors with Assam’s potential, PM Modi underscored the region’s historical role in India’s prosperity. “As India moves towards development, the Northeast is ready to showcase its strength,” he added.

Recalling the launch of Advantage Assam in 2018, the Prime Minister said that at the time, Assam’s economy stood at ₹2.75 lakh crore, emphasizing its expansion since then. He also highlighted the state’s tea industry as a key contributor to Assam’s economic potential.

The Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 serves as a major platform for businesses and investors to explore opportunities in Assam’s rapidly expanding industrial and infrastructure sectors.
