Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Jitendra Singh, visited Udhampur on Sunday to review the security arrangements in the region. The high-level meeting took place against the backdrop of heightened security concerns in Jammu and Kashmir following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives.

Addressing concerns, Singh assured that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure peace and safety in the region. “We will address all concerns and constraints to ensure peace and safety. Miscreants will be dealt with firmly,” he said.

During his visit, Singh also met Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, who will assume charge as the General Officer Commanding (GoC) Northern Command, Udhampur, from May 1. He lauded the Indian Army for maintaining high public morale through its strategic deployment at sensitive locations.

The Minister also commended the district administration for its ongoing efforts in maintaining law and order and supporting developmental initiatives in the region.
