From Article 370 to Ram Temple: Amit Shah Highlights Modi Government’s Key Achievements

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President Nitin Nabin on Wednesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister, describing the milestone as a reflection of his dedication to nation-building and transformative governance.

Prime Minister Modi crossed the record of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru by completing 4,399 consecutive days in office, marking a historic moment in India’s democratic journey.

In a post on X, Amit Shah said Prime Minister Modi’s 12 years in office have been marked by efforts to restore India’s pride, strengthen its cultural identity and free the nation from a colonial mindset.

Listing key achievements of the government, Shah said the period witnessed the construction of the new Parliament building, implementation of three new criminal laws, introduction of the National Education Policy, and the promotion of the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The Home Minister also highlighted measures related to national security and governance, including the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, action against Maoism, and efforts to combat terrorism.

He said India has emerged as a confident nation that takes pride in its heritage, culture and capabilities, while strengthening its position on the global stage.

“Today, the new India is confidently establishing its identity on every global platform, and the world is witnessing the rise of a capable, powerful and new India,” Shah said.

BJP President Nitin Nabin also extended his greetings to the Prime Minister, describing the achievement as a symbol of his commitment to public service and national development.

In a social media post, Nabin said the past 12 years have been dedicated to trust, development and public welfare, resulting in progress in governance, security, economic growth and India’s global standing.

Highlighting major initiatives undertaken during the period, he said financial inclusion, digital transformation and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) under the ‘One Nation, One Tax’ framework have strengthened transparency and accountability in governance.

Nabin also pointed to advances in defence self-reliance, manufacturing and infrastructure development, along with decisions such as the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram Temple, as key milestones in fulfilling national aspirations.

He said the country is moving forward with the collective goal of achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.

Prime Minister Modi surpassed Jawaharlal Nehru’s record on Wednesday with 4,399 consecutive days in office as an elected Prime Minister.

While Nehru served as Prime Minister from 1947, the comparison considers his tenure after the first general elections in 1952. Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi served for more than 14 years in office, but her tenure was not continuous.

Prime Minister Modi has served continuously since assuming office in 2014 and has secured successive mandates in 2019 and 2024, becoming the first Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to win three consecutive Lok Sabha elections.
