From Kuwait to New York, Indian missions celebrate spirit of yoga

Indian diplomatic missions across the world organised yoga sessions and outreach programmes on Saturday ahead of the 12th International Day of Yoga, highlighting the importance of holistic health, well-being and inner harmony.

This year’s International Day of Yoga, to be observed on June 21, is themed “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, emphasising yoga’s role in promoting healthier and more active lives across generations.

In Kuwait, the Embassy of India organised a mass yoga session at the Boulevard Cricket Stadium as part of a three-day Yoga Festival. More than 2,200 participants, including diplomats, officials, community leaders, students and yoga enthusiasts, took part in the event.

In Finland, the Embassy of India and the Finnish-Indian society Suomi-Intia Seura jointly organised a Midnight Yoga Session at Ounasvaara in Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle under the midnight sun.

Yoga sessions were also organised in the Philippines, Fiji, Colombia and Armenia in collaboration with local organisations, highlighting yoga’s growing global appeal and its role in strengthening people-to-people ties.

In the United States, Indian missions organised yoga sessions in several cities, including Seattle and New York. In New York, the Consulate General of India, in collaboration with Bronx Community College, held a yoga event involving students to mark the upcoming International Day of Yoga.

Indian missions across the world have been conducting outreach activities involving local communities and members of the Indian diaspora as part of preparations for the 12th International Day of Yoga.
