Indian Naval Ships Udaygiri, Kavaratti, and Shakti of the Eastern Fleet arrived at Sattahip, Thailand, on Saturday as part of their operational deployment to the South East Asia Region, marking another step in India’s growing maritime engagement with Southeast Asian nations.
Led by Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet, the ships were received by the Royal Thai Navy. The port call reflects the close and longstanding maritime partnership between India and Thailand and is aimed at enhancing bilateral naval cooperation.
During the visit, personnel from both navies will participate in a series of professional exchanges, cross-deck visits, operational interactions, sporting events, and community outreach activities. These engagements are designed to strengthen interoperability, foster greater understanding, and reinforce navy-to-navy ties.
The visit also highlights India’s indigenous shipbuilding capabilities, with INS Udaygiri, INS Kavaratti, and INS Shakti showcasing advanced design, modular construction, and state-of-the-art technology.
The deployment underscores India’s commitment to regional maritime security while reinforcing its credentials as a reliable partner in defence and maritime cooperation.
