Excitement is building among members of the Indian community in Slovakia ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming state visit, with an Indian-origin restaurant in Bratislava making special preparations to host members of the visiting delegation.
The visit is being seen as a historic milestone as it will be the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country’s independence in 1993.
At an Indian-origin restaurant in the Slovak capital, chefs and staff have been working on special arrangements and menus for the delegation accompanying the Prime Minister.
Chef Rajendra Singh Negi, who has been working in Slovakia for a decade and currently heads the restaurant’s kitchen team, said preparations were in full swing.
“I have been here for 10 years. I am the head chef and this is my team. The Prime Minister of our country is coming here. His team has already arrived and we are preparing their dinner,” he said.
Another chef at the restaurant said the visit has generated immense enthusiasm among members of the Indian diaspora.
“I have been in Slovakia for three years. We waited a long time for the Prime Minister of our country to visit here. We are feeling very happy and proud,” he said.
Members of the Indian community in Slovakia have described the visit as a significant moment in bilateral relations and an opportunity to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to undertake a state visit to Slovakia at the invitation of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
