Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday highlighted India’s recent achievements in defence manufacturing and indigenous technology, saying the country’s progress in security and self-reliance has been a matter of pride for every citizen.
Addressing the nation in the latest edition of his monthly Mann Ki Baat programme, the Prime Minister said June witnessed several milestones that strengthened India’s defence capabilities and advanced the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
“Half of the year 2026 is drawing to a close. Over these six months, we have discussed numerous achievements of our countrymen in Mann Ki Baat. In June as well, the nation has attained certain achievements that fill every citizen with pride. These successes are linked to the country’s security and self-reliance,” he said.
Referring to his recent visit to Kolkata, PM Modi highlighted the induction of INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray into the Indian Navy.
He said all three vessels have been designed and manufactured in India, reflecting the country’s growing indigenous shipbuilding capabilities.
The Prime Minister also hailed the successful maiden flight of the first Made-in-India C-295 military transport aircraft, noting that 40 such aircraft are being manufactured domestically.
“The C-295 aircraft is ‘Made in India’. It has completed its maiden flight and 40 such aircraft are being manufactured right here in India. This is providing new momentum to the MSME and aerospace sectors, raising employment opportunities, and strengthening the resolve for an Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.
PM Modi also praised the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) for the successful flight test of the indigenous Long-Range Land-Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM) earlier this month.
“This month, the DRDO also successfully tested an indigenous Long-Range Land-Attack Cruise Missile. It was developed jointly by DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners. In other words, from the seas to the skies, our India is becoming increasingly secure and self-reliant,” the Prime Minister said.
The LRLACM was successfully flight-tested from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast on June 15. According to DRDO, all mission objectives were successfully achieved, with the missile’s performance validated through tracking systems deployed by the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur.
The missile has been developed indigenously with contributions from multiple DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners. The Aeronautical Development Establishment, Bengaluru, served as the nodal laboratory for the project.
