The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to hold a key meeting in the national capital on Wednesday to commemorate 12 years of the NDA government at the Centre and celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi becoming India’s longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister.
The meeting, scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam, is likely to be attended by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from all 22 NDA-ruled states and Union Territories, along with leaders of the alliance’s constituent parties.
On June 10, PM Modi surpassed Nehru’s record of 4,399 days in office as an elected Prime Minister. For this comparison, Nehru’s tenure is counted from 1952 onwards, following India’s first general elections, as he led the country’s interim government between 1947 and 1952.
Although former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi served in office for more than 14 years, her tenure was not continuous. As a result, PM Modi has become the longest continuously serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.
The meeting is being organised to mark the NDA government’s completion of 12 years in office and is expected to focus on the alliance’s achievements, future policy priorities, and political roadmap. Discussions are likely to centre on key governance initiatives, development programmes, and preparations for upcoming electoral contests.
