The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday announced the nominees for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for June 2026, with India captain Shubman Gill , Bangladesh all-rounder Mossadek Hossain and New Zealand pacer Nathan Smith shortlisted for their outstanding performances across formats.
According to the ICC, the three players delivered match-winning performances during the month and played key roles in significant series victories for their respective teams.
Shubman Gill (India)
India captain Shubman Gill enjoyed a prolific month with the bat across formats, producing several match-winning performances.
He started June with a commanding 126 in India’s innings victory over Afghanistan in the one-off Test, registering his 11th Test century, which included 15 fours and a six.
Gill continued his impressive form in the ODI series, scoring 238 runs in the two innings he played. He struck an attacking 84 off 66 balls in the opening ODI before smashing a brilliant 154 off just 110 deliveries in Lucknow.
Despite battling cramps during the innings, Gill accelerated in the closing stages to guide India to another victory and was named Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series for his dominant displays.
Mossadek Hossain (Bangladesh)
Mossadek Hossain made a memorable return to international cricket after a four-year absence, playing a crucial role in Bangladesh’s historic 2-1 ODI series win over Australia.
The all-rounder was named Player of the Series after making a strong impact throughout the contest. In his first international appearance since November 2022, Mossadek scored an unbeaten 86, took two wickets and produced a stunning running catch as Bangladesh secured an 86-run victory.
He ended the series as Bangladesh’s leading run-scorer with 157 runs, including two half-centuries, helping his side achieve one of its most notable ODI triumphs.
Nathan Smith (New Zealand)
New Zealand pacer Nathan Smith emerged as the standout performer in his team’s memorable 2-1 Test series victory over England.
The fast bowler finished as the leading wicket-taker in the series with 16 wickets and was named Player of the Series despite New Zealand losing the opening Test at Lord’s.
Smith’s best performance came in the first Test, where he took three wickets in the opening innings before claiming an impressive 6/70 in the second innings. He continued to provide crucial breakthroughs as New Zealand fought back to win the next two Tests and complete a remarkable comeback.
With several frontline pacers unavailable due to injuries, Smith stepped up to lead a depleted bowling attack and delivered consistently throughout the series.
