Lifelong learning key to success in changing world, says President Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday called upon students to embrace lifelong learning, adapt to emerging technologies, and uphold ethical values as she addressed the first convocation ceremony of the Central University of Andhra Pradesh in Ananthapuramu.

Describing the occasion as a defining milestone in the journey of the young institution, the President expressed confidence that the university would emerge as a centre of excellence and contribute significantly to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.

She noted that the university’s long-term vision and commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly quality education, reflected its dedication to inclusive and equitable development.

Congratulating the graduating students, President Murmu said that convocation marks the culmination of years of dedication, perseverance and hard work, while also opening new avenues of opportunity.

She emphasised that students’ achievements were shaped not only by their own efforts but also by the sacrifices of their parents, the guidance of teachers and the support of society. Urging graduates to give back to society, she said they should use their knowledge to strengthen the lives of the underprivileged, whether as entrepreneurs, scientists, public servants or philanthropists.

Highlighting the rapid pace of technological transformation, the President said learning should not end with the acquisition of a degree. She encouraged students to continuously upgrade their skills and cultivate the courage to explore new ideas and acquire new knowledge.

“Our learning-oriented, resilient and innovative youth are our precious national assets,” she said, adding that by combining knowledge with creativity, determination and a sense of responsibility, young people can transform challenges into opportunities and contribute to building a more inclusive and prosperous India.

President Murmu also underlined the importance of ethical values, saying that honesty, compassion, empathy and respect for nature form the foundation of holistic development. She said these values would help students lead meaningful lives while making valuable contributions to society and the nation.
