SEMICON India 2026 to bring global semiconductor industry together in New Delhi

The fifth edition of SEMICON India will be held from September 17 to 19 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, bringing together global semiconductor companies, policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, startups and academia as India seeks to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor ecosystem.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 on September 17. The three-day conference and exhibition, themed “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”, is being jointly organised by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and SEMI, the global semiconductor industry association.

The event comes as India’s semiconductor programme gains momentum. Under Semicon India 1.0, 12 semiconductor projects have been approved, while the Union Cabinet has approved the next phase, Semicon 2.0, to accelerate the development of a robust and resilient semiconductor ecosystem.

Of the 12 projects approved under Semicon 1.0, three have already commenced commercial production, according to MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan.

The government is also focusing on semiconductor research, design and innovation. State-of-the-art design tools have been made available to more than 332 academic institutions and 105 startups, while 24 startups have been approved under the Design Linked Incentive scheme.

SEMICON India 2026 will feature keynotes, panel discussions, fireside chats and international country roundtables covering manufacturing and technology, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, supply chains, chemicals and materials, policy, sustainability, product design, startups, innovation, talent and skilling.

The exhibition is expected to feature more than 500 exhibitors, including over 240 international companies, with participation from delegations representing more than 40 countries. It will also have over 150 international speakers and more than 15,000 square metres of exhibition space.

The event will include six country pavilions, 10 state government pavilions, a startup pavilion, an innovation showcase, a startup pitch competition, a student hackathon and a workforce development pavilion.

A new “Sand to Silicon to Systems” Value Chain Experience will also showcase India’s expanding capabilities across the semiconductor ecosystem, highlighting the country’s progression towards a comprehensive semiconductor value chain.

According to Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, MeitY and CEO, ISM, global semiconductor demand is expected to increase from around USD 1 trillion to USD 2 trillion, while India’s semiconductor requirement is projected to grow from around USD 100 billion to USD 200 billion.

The conference will also feature a dedicated session on Women Empowerment and Leadership, along with a workforce development session and an international forum involving six country roundtables.

Leading global and Indian companies participating in the event include ASML, Applied Materials, Teradyne, Infineon, Ebara, Jabil, IBM Research, NXP, Tata Electronics, Micron, Merck KGaA, Rapidus, Lam Research, CG Power, Advantest and Tokyo Electron, among others.

SEMICON India serves as a platform for collaboration among industry, government, academia and investors, with the broader objective of strengthening India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem and positioning the country as a trusted global hub for the sector.
