The SURYAPATH TIRANGA Global Relay went live on Independence Day, creating a unique global celebration as the Indian National Flag travelled across countries from East to West, following the path of the rising sun.
As part of the initiative, 21 Indian Missions and Posts across different countries hoisted the Tiranga between 1:30 AM and 10:30 AM IST on August 15. The coordinated flag-hoisting sequence symbolically traced the movement of the sun across different time zones, carrying the message of India’s freedom, unity and national pride across continents.
Under the SURYAPATH TIRANGA initiative, the National Flag is being hoisted at selected Indian Missions and Posts in a carefully coordinated sequence. As dawn breaks in one part of the world, the Tiranga is raised there, followed by the next Indian Mission or Post further west.
The initiative forms part of the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 celebrations and seeks to highlight that the national flag transcends geographical boundaries, connecting Indians and friends of India across the globe.
The global relay also showcases India’s growing global presence, with Indian diplomatic missions and posts serving as symbols of the country’s national spirit on Independence Day.
Through SURYAPATH TIRANGA, the passage of time across different parts of the world has been transformed into a symbolic journey of the Tiranga – beginning with the first light of the day in the East and carrying the message of national pride, unity and Viksit Bharat towards the West.
