Delhi LG inaugurates DDA sports complex in Dwarka

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Thursday inaugurated a DDA sports complex in Dwarka that offers a combination of indoor and outdoor sports activities, officials said.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has also developed an 8-hectare facility with an electric vehicle charging system.

“The Sports Complex is envisaged as an important sporting and wellness asset for Outer and North-West Delhi, particularly in view of its location, scale and future expansion potential,” the DDA said.

According to officials, the complex has six lawn tennis synthetic courts, two basketball synthetic courts, one netball synthetic court, one volleyball synthetic court, a skating rink, a cricket ground with natural turf, two cricket practice nets with clay pitches, football-cum-hockey ground with natural turf and a jogging track.

“The indoor facilities include table tennis, yoga hall, aerobics hall, gymnasium, multipurpose halls and other facilities. The complex also has a pro-shop and associated facilities, along with approximately 1.3 kilometres of internal peripheral road and parking for around 155 vehicles,” the DDA said in a statement.

Officials said a fitness centre and rehabilitation centre are proposed for the first floor in the near future, and a swimming pool may be added later.

The DDA currently operates 18 sports complexes, four mini sports complexes and three Golf Courses across the city.
