India on September 21 defeated Bangladesh 1-0 in the Men’s football. The Indian team broke the deadlock and went on to win its first group stage match.

For India, it was Captain Sunil Chhetri who converted the penalty in the 85th minute into a goal, that finalised the win for India. It is safe to say that Chhetri’s experience paid off in today’s match. With this victory, India takes a significant step forward in their quest for qualification to the next round.
The first half of the match remained goalless, however, Bangladesh started pressing in the second half.
The win is a happy news for the Indian fans as the men in blue bounced back from their defeat against China, to keep their hopes alive in the qualifications.
Although India had a rocky start to the Games due to numerous challenges, including a lack of rest and proper training sessions. It seems Indian fans can keep their hopes high, and expect promising performance from the team.
India will now next play Myanmar on September 24 . A victory in that match would secure India’s ticket to the next round.
