EAM, S Jaishankar, expressed his joy during a visit to Russia, where he had the privilege of touring a school named after the renowned poet and philosopher, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, in St. Petersburg.
Jaishankar took to social media to share his experience, emphasizing the profound love and passion Tagore’s namesake school exhibited for India. “It was a great pleasure to visit the school named after Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Ji, #653 in St. Petersburg. His love for India was truly heart-touching,” he remarked.
Accompanying his post was a link to a video, offering glimpses of the warm reception he received from the students. Dressed in festive attire, the students welcomed the minister by waving both Indian and Russian flags. The atmosphere was further sweetened as the students presented Jaishankar with traditional sweets.
The visit took a cultural turn as students showcased their talents through a captivating dance performance. Jaishankar, visibly moved by the display of affection and cultural exchange, addressed the students and others present at the school.
This visit is part of EAM Jaishankar’s ongoing tour of Russia from December 25 to 29, contributing to the robust high-level exchanges between the two nations. Earlier, Jaishankar participated in a round table conference with Indologists in St. Petersburg. Indologists specialize in subjects like Indian literature, history, and philosophy.
During the conference, Jaishankar underscored the importance of shaping international relations with Indian characteristics, expressing his commitment to delving into India’s rich cultural and knowledge reservoir. He stressed the significance of countries developing a direct understanding of each other in today’s geopolitical landscape.
Russian President Vladimir Putin extended an invitation to PM Modi to visit Russia next year. “We will be glad to see our friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Russia,” Putin stated during a meeting with EAM S Jaishankar at the Kremlin.
The ongoing diplomatic engagements between India and Russia not only strengthen bilateral ties but also highlight the shared cultural affinities that form the bedrock of the relationship between the two nations.
