Minister for Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, is scheduled to release a report on ‘A Green and Sustainable Growth Agenda for the Global Economy’ on December 19 in New Delhi.

The launch event will host eminent personalities, including B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, CEO, NITI Aayog; Suman Bery, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog; Ajay Seth, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs; and Kapil Kapoor, Regional Director for Asia, International Development Research Centre. Kenneth Félix Haczynski da Nóbrega, Ambassador of Brazil to India, will also attend the launch ceremony.

The report, a collaborative effort between NITI Aayog, the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Ottawa, and the Global Development Network (GDN), New Delhi, explores the prospects and challenges of green and sustainable growth for the global economy.

Following the report launch, there will be an interactive panel discussion highlighting key topics covered in the document.

The document summarizes discussions from a policy conference organized by NITI Aayog, IDRC, and GDN on July 28–29. The conference, a G20 side event, gathered 40 leading thinkers to deliberate on a new growth model for G20 members. Insights and ideas were shared on critical aspects such as energy, climate, and growth; technology, policy, and jobs; the implications of a fractured trading system on growth, and reshaping global finance for sustainable growth.

The report provides a realistic view of international development, recognizing uneven progress and offering insights as benchmarks for researchers and stakeholders. Recommendations stemming from the conference are highlighted as crucial for shaping dialogue and building consensus among member states. Notably, key ideas and thoughts shared during the deliberations found their way into the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration.
