Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Irani on Sunday reached Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on a two-day visit to attend the Haj conference and sign the Haj Agreement 2024 between India and Saudi Arabia.
Irani was received at the Jeddah Airport by Ambassador Suhel Khan, Consul General Mohd Shahid and officials of the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah. Accompanying her is V. Muraleedharan, the Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs.
Irani, who is also serving as the Union Minister for Women & Child Development, is leading a delegation for the signing and exchange of the bilateral Haj Agreement 2024 in Jeddah. During this visit, she is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with H.E. Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al Rabiah, the Minister of Haj and Umrah Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The discussions will focus on mutual interests, particularly issues concerning the upcoming Haj in 2024.
Additionally, the delegation aims to engage with the Indian business community and the Indian diaspora in Saudi Arabia, aiming to bolster stronger connections.
Tomorrow, Smriti Irani is expected to attend the opening ceremony of the 3rd Edition of the ‘Haj and Umrah Conference’ in Jeddah, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah Affairs.
This visit is set to serve as a testament to the growing diplomatic ties between India and Saudi Arabia, reaffirming the commitment to cooperation and collaboration.
