Amit Shah inaugurates NSIT Jetalpur in Ahmedabad

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated the Naranarayan Shastri Institute of Technology (NSIT) in Jetalpur, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Shah lauded the Swaminarayan sect for its significant role in transforming Jetalpur into an educational hub.

During the inauguration, Shah announced the introduction of new courses in Jetalpur, including B.Sc. Forensic Science, M.Sc. Forensic Science, M.Sc. Cyber Security, and 5-year integrated courses in Digital Forensics. These additions are expected to position Jetalpur as a center for forensic science studies in Gujarat.

Shah acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in overhauling India’s legal system. The shift from the Indian Penal Code to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita reflects a commitment to a more indigenous legal framework. Shah emphasized the citizen-centric approach of the new laws, with a focus on justice for Indian citizens, particularly women.

He said that when PM Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Gujarat Forensic Science University was established, which later became a National Forensic Science University.

Forensic Science University, established in 2020, is set to play a pivotal role in implementing the new laws that mandate the collection of forensic evidence in crimes with a punishment of seven years or more. Shah emphasized the need for a substantial workforce of forensic science experts and announced a target of 30,000 youth serving in this capacity annually from 2025.

Shah also discussed the Modi government’s new education policy, promoting interdisciplinary studies and aiming to enhance the global ranking of Indian universities.
