Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday engaged in separate telephone conversations with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the President of the Russia, Vladimir Putin.
In his discussion with President Zelenskyy, the two leaders deliberated on enhancing the partnership between India and Ukraine across various domains. Amidst the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, PM Modi reiterated India’s stance emphasizing dialogue and diplomacy as the means for resolution. He underscored India’s support for peaceful solutions and expressed readiness to contribute within its capacity to achieve this end.
President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for India’s humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine, and both leaders agreed to maintain communication.
In a separate conversation with Russian President Putin, PM Modi extended congratulations on his re-election and conveyed well wishes for the prosperity of the Russian people. They pledged joint efforts to fortify the Special & Privileged Strategic Partnership. Discussions included a review of progress in bilateral cooperation and exchanges on regional and global matters of mutual interest.
PM Modi stressed India’s advocacy for dialogue and diplomacy in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Both leaders committed to maintain ongoing communication.
