The Embassy of India in Muscat, in collaboration with the Indian School Muscat, organized a grand celebration for the 10th International Day of Yoga today. The event drew an impressive crowd of 2,000 participants from diverse backgrounds, including Indian nationals, resident ambassadors, diplomatic corps members, Omani citizens, and students from Indian schools.

The event marked the culmination of a two-month initiative called “Marhaban Yoga: Health, Harmony, and Healing,” launched by the Embassy in April 2024. This campaign saw over 30 yoga events conducted across Oman, reaching people of all ages and focusing on various themes such as health, peace, mindfulness, and well-being.A notable highlight was a flagship event in Salalah, which attracted over 300 participants, including Omani dignitaries. Jamal al-Moosawi, Secretary General of the National Museum of Oman, attended as the Guest of Honor.

The celebration centered around this year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” emphasizing the practice’s dual impact on individual well-being and social harmony. Participants engaged in a common Yoga Protocol, showcasing the unity that yoga can foster.Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, highlighted yoga’s relevance in today’s world. “Yoga not only enhances personal health and well-being but also strengthens the social fabric by promoting unity and harmony,” he stated.

This year’s celebrations build upon previous successful initiatives like the Oman Yoga Yatra in 2022 and the Muscat Yog Mahotsav in 2023. The growing popularity of yoga in Oman reflects its increasing recognition as a comprehensive health discipline, attracting practitioners seeking physical, mental, and emotional benefits.
