Dubai is set to make history as it prepares to host the L’Etape Dubai cycling race, presented by the Tour de France, on February 2, 2025. This marks the first time the prestigious amateur cycling event will take place in the Middle East. Organized by Belton and Be Cool Events in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council, and sponsored by Škoda Cars, the race aims to bring the atmosphere of the Tour de France to cycling enthusiasts in the region.
The event will feature four components over two days, including a kids’ race, family ride, and two main races covering distances of 60km and 110km. Participants will have the opportunity to cycle past Dubai’s iconic landmarks, combining sport with sightseeing. Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, expressed excitement about bringing this major global race to Dubai, highlighting the city’s commitment to supporting sports and promoting cycling.
Christian Prudhomme, Director-General of Tour de France, stated, “The L’Etape Dubai is the only sporting event where cyclists will feel like real champions,” emphasizing the unique experience it offers to riders of all skill levels. With more than 2,000 participants expected from around the world, L’Etape Dubai is poised to become a significant addition to the UAE’s growing cycling scene and sports tourism industry.
