A choice for freedom or chaos: Harris speaks to America

As the US Presidential Election approaches, Kamala Harris delivered a speech on Tuesday night emphasizing her positions on reproductive rights and immigration.

Speaking at a campaign rally on the Ellipse in Washington, DC, Harris said that next week’s election presents a significant decision for voters: “It is a choice about whether we will have a country rooted in freedom for every American or ruled by chaos and division.”

“One week from today, you will have the chance to make a decision that directly impacts your life, the lives of your family, and the future of this country we love. This election is more than just a choice between two parties or two different candidates,” she added.

A recent CNN poll conducted by SSRS in Arizona shows Harris with 48 percent support among likely voters, while Trump holds 47 percent. In Nevada, Trump leads slightly with 48 percent, compared to Harris’s 47 percent, according to CNN. These close margins fall within the poll’s margin of error, indicating no clear frontrunner in either state.

The surveys suggest that voters’ opinions are largely fixed on which candidate would handle key issues better, with neither candidate successfully swaying a majority on attributes such as caring for constituents, sharing a national vision, or prioritizing national interests over personal gain, as per CNN.

While the race in Nevada has stayed stable since late August, recent polling in Arizona reveals a shift toward Harris, particularly among core Democratic groups, including women, Latino voters, and younger voters. Women back Harris by a 16-point margin, whereas men favor Trump by 14 points.

In Nevada, Harris holds a narrower lead among women (51 percent to 46 percent), while Trump has a strong advantage among White voters—leading by 15 points among White men and 12 points among White women, CNN reported. Hispanic voters in Nevada are nearly evenly split, while Harris maintains a significant lead among voters under 35.

Notably, over 50.5 million Americans have already cast ballots for the November election, either by mail or through early in-person voting, CNN reported.

Following ballot destruction from fires in the Pacific Northwest, at least 66 seasonal workers are being hired to monitor ballot boxes around the clock in Clark County, Washington State.

In the critical Southwest battlegrounds of Arizona and Nevada, Harris and Trump remain nearly tied in the race for the White House, according to CNN’s SSRS polls.

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5.
