The Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election results will be announced on November 21, following a delay of nearly two months since the polls were held, the university said in a statement.
The elections, which took place on September 27, were initially expected to conclude with the declaration of results the next day. However, the Delhi High Court, objecting to the extensive defacement of public spaces during the campaign, issued a stay on the results until the matter was resolved.
This year’s voter turnout was the lowest in over a decade, with just 51,379 out of 1.45 lakh eligible voters participating.
Voting for the central panel of DUSU, which includes the posts of president, vice president, secretary, and joint secretary, was carried out through electronic voting machines (EVMs), while college representatives were elected using ballot papers.
Vote counting for both the central panel and college representatives will begin at 8:30 am on November 21 at the DU Conference Centre, with an Election Commission team supervising the process, according to the official statement.
