Health minister JP Nadda to lead World AIDS Day 2024 commemoration

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda is set to inaugurate the World AIDS Day 2024 event at the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya Auditorium in Indore on December 1. The program will highlight efforts to combat HIV/AIDS and promote awareness, with Indore hosting the significant occasion.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will join as the Guest of Honour. The event aligns with this year’s United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) theme, “Take the Rights Path”, focusing on awareness, rights-based approaches, and eliminating discrimination against those affected by HIV/AIDS.

Organized by the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the event aims to bring together policymakers, civil society, communities, youth, and development partners to foster collaboration in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Highlights include a live performance of NACO’s theme song by Dev Negi, Moko Koza, and Agsy, along with inspirational stories from beneficiaries and an innovative exhibition showcasing NACO’s digital ecosystem, community engagement, and campaign achievements.

Key publications, such as SANKALAK 6th Edition and India HIV Estimates 2023 – Technical Report, will also be launched.

The program will be live-streamed to encourage nationwide participation, reinforcing India’s commitment to ending HIV/AIDS by 2030.
