aviation sector | Rashtrapati Bhavan | President Droupadi Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday met with a group of women achievers from the aviation sector at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The meeting was part of the initiative “The President with the People,” which aims to recognize individuals who have contributed significantly to national progress.

During the interaction, President Murmu highlighted the significant strides women have made in aviation. She pointed out that women now represent 15 percent of India’s Air Traffic Controllers, 11 percent of flight dispatchers, and 9 percent of aerospace engineers. Additionally, 18 percent of pilots who received commercial licenses last year were women, demonstrating the increasing presence of women in what was once a male-dominated industry.

Applauding the women for their innovative thinking and willingness to chart new paths, President Murmu emphasized that the Government of India’s inclusive policies have boosted progress for women in aviation, encouraging more to pursue careers in this field.

However, she stressed that increasing women’s participation in the industry must be accompanied by the creation of equal opportunities for their advancement.

President Murmu also underscored the critical role of family support in enabling women to pursue their dreams. She acknowledged that, despite having advanced education, many women struggle to fulfill their aspirations without backing from their families.

She urged the women achievers present to become role models for others, inspiring them to break barriers and chase their ambitions.
