The Indian women’s Kho Kho team began their Kho Kho World Cup 2025 campaign with a stunning 175-18 victory over South Korea at the Indira Gandhi Indoor stadium.
The ‘Women in Blue’ displayed exceptional skill, combining dream runs and remarkable defensive strategies to overwhelm their opponents. Chaithra B, Meeru, and skipper Priyanka Ingle led the charge with consecutive dream runs, with the first two batches earning a point each, according to a release. This strategic start neutralized the 10 touchpoints South Korea managed in the first Turn.
Seizing the momentum, the Indians launched a relentless attack. Within just 90 seconds, the dynamic trio of Nasreen Shaikh, Priyanka Ingle, and Reshma Rathod achieved three all-out victories, pushing the score to 24. Merely 18 seconds later, they inflicted a fourth all-out, extending their lead by 22 points.
Reshma Rathod stood out with six touchpoints, while Meenu impressed with 12 points through Other Dives, significantly boosting the team’s total. By the end of Turn 2, Team India had eliminated 16 batches, amassing a score of 94-10.
The intensity remained high in Turn 3, with India adding three points via a dream run. South Korea managed only eight points in the second innings of Turn 3 as India’s dominance continued. In the final Turn, India maintained their unyielding control, denying South Korea any opportunity to find their rhythm.
The match concluded with India securing a massive 175-18 victory, sending a strong message to their group rivals as the tournament enters its decisive stages.
