From electronics to automobiles, India emerges as a key global hub: PM Modi

India has emerged as a major automobile producer and exporter, alongside a significant transformation in electronics manufacturing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday.

Speaking at a media event, PM Modi stated that India is now manufacturing everything—from semiconductors to aircraft carriers—and that the world is eager to learn about the country’s success in detail.

“India’s leadership in various sectors is the result of years of hard work and systematic policy decisions,” PM Modi said, highlighting the progress made over the past decade. He noted that incomplete bridges and stalled roads have now been replaced by well-developed infrastructure, with good roads and excellent expressways driving forward the nation’s growth.

The Prime Minister emphasised that reduced travel time and costs have provided industries with an opportunity to cut logistics turnaround time, significantly benefiting the automobile sector. He pointed to the increasing demand for vehicles and the push for EV production, adding that India has now emerged as a major automobile producer and exporter.

“India is not only supplying products to the world but is also becoming a trusted and reliable partner in the global supply chain,” PM Modi noted.

Over the past decade, electricity has reached more than 2.5 crore families for the first time, leading to increased demand for electronic equipment.

PM Modi highlighted that affordable data has boosted demand for mobile phones, while the growing availability of services on mobile devices has driven higher consumption of digital products.

Initiatives like the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme have turned this demand into an opportunity, making India a leading exporter of electronics.

Emphasising India’s expanding global footprint, the Prime Minister noted that beyond millets, India’s turmeric has also reached international markets, with the country supplying over 60 per cent of the world’s turmeric. He added that India’s coffee has gained global recognition, making the country the seventh-largest coffee exporter. Furthermore, he highlighted that Indian mobile phones, electronic products, and medicines are increasingly gaining global recognition.
