Defending champions Liverpool closed out 2025 with a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, moving to 32 points and remaining among the top five in the table on Saturday.
A quickfire double late in the first half from Ryan Gravenberch and Florian Wirtz — his first competitive goal for the club — put the Reds in control at Anfield. Santiago Bueno pulled one back for Wolves shortly after half-time, but Arne Slot’s side held firm to record their fourth consecutive win in all competitions.
Elsewhere on a busy day, a hat-trick from Kevin Schade and an own goal by Djordje Petrović powered Brentford to a 4-1 win over Bournemouth at the Gtech Community Stadium. Antoine Semenyo scored the consolation for the Cherries as Brentford made it two successive victories to end the calendar year.
Schade struck on either side of Petrović’s own goal to give the Bees a three-goal cushion before Semenyo briefly reduced the deficit. The German forward then completed his hat-trick with a header in stoppage time.
In another fixture, Raúl Jiménez’s late header earned Fulham a third successive Premier League victory with a hard-fought 1-0 win over West Ham United at the London Stadium.
The contest was a tense and evenly matched affair, but Fulham showed greater composure in the closing stages. Five minutes from time, Harry Wilson capitalised on a defensive lapse to set up Jiménez for his second goal of the week, efforts that secured six valuable points for Marco Silva’s side.
At Turf Moor, Burnley were held to a goalless draw by Everton despite a dominant second-half display.
Scott Parker’s side created several chances but failed to convert, leaving them to rue missed opportunities at the end of a bruising encounter. Jacob Bruun Larsen missed the clearest opening, firing over when one-on-one with Jordan Pickford early in the second half, as the spoils were ultimately shared.
