Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary represented India at the swearing-in ceremony of Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his recent visit to Uganda, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening ties with the African nation.

Chaudhary, who holds the portfolios of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, conveyed greetings and a message of goodwill from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India on the occasion of President Museveni assuming his seventh term in office.

During the visit, the minister highlighted the importance of political stability and continuity in driving national development and acknowledged Uganda’s steady progress over the years. He reiterated India’s commitment to deepening its longstanding partnership with Uganda and the wider African continent.

As part of his engagements, Chaudhary visited the Uganda campus of National Forensic Sciences University in Jinja, which became India’s first overseas public academic campus when it admitted its inaugural batch of students in October 2025.

Commending the initiative, the minister said the institution is expected to emerge as a centre of excellence for multidisciplinary forensic sciences, research, innovation and capacity building. He described the campus as a symbol of growing collaboration and shared aspirations between India and Africa.

In Kampala, Chaudhary also interacted with members of the Indian diaspora and highlighted the strong people-to-people ties between the two countries.

The visit underscored India’s continued efforts to expand cooperation with Uganda across education, skill development and other strategic sectors.
