In a major push towards strengthening India’s digital health ecosystem, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda launched the Swasth Bharat Portal, a unified platform aimed at integrating fragmented health programme systems across the country.
The portal was unveiled during the 10th National Summit on Innovation and Inclusivity: Best Practices Shaping India’s Health Future, marking a significant step towards building a more efficient, interoperable and scalable public health infrastructure.
Developed by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the Swasth Bharat Portal has been designed as a one-stop aggregator platform that connects multiple national health programme applications through API-based architecture. The move seeks to address long-standing challenges of siloed systems, duplicate data entry and fragmented datasets that have hindered optimal utilisation of resources.
MoHFW said the platform will allow healthcare workers—including ASHAs, ANMs, Community Health Officers and Medical Officers – to access multiple programmes through a single interface, eliminating the need for multiple logins and repetitive reporting tasks. The portal also features data visualisation tools to support local-level monitoring and evidence-based decision-making.
The system is compliant with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and enables integration with the Ayushman Bharat Health Account, facilitating secure and seamless exchange of patient health records. It is also expected to integrate with national registries such as the Healthcare Professionals Registry and Health Facility Registry, further strengthening interoperability.
According to the Ministry, the Swasth Bharat Portal is projected to deliver substantial efficiency gains. These include a 20–30 per cent reduction in infrastructure load and a 20–40 per cent decrease in both data entry efforts and duplication of human resources. The unified platform is also expected to significantly improve the speed and quality of decision-making across health programmes.
By consolidating independent systems into a single digital layer, the initiative aims to reduce administrative burden, streamline reporting processes and enhance coordination across different levels of healthcare delivery.
The Ministry described the portal as a transformative step towards data-driven governance in the health sector, reinforcing India’s commitment to building a robust, integrated and future-ready digital public health system.
