PM Modi to launch development projects worth over ₹21,700 crore in Gujarat and Daman

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu on June 5, where he will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth more than ₹21,700 crore across key sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, connectivity, aviation and industry.
 
The Prime Minister will begin his visit in Surat, where he is scheduled to review industrial operations and infrastructure projects at Hazira before participating in a public programme. He will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth around ₹18,800 crore aimed at strengthening road connectivity, power infrastructure and industrial development in Gujarat.
 
Among the major projects, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate Packages VI and VII of the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway to the nation. The expressway is expected to enhance high-speed transportation, improve logistics efficiency and strengthen economic connectivity between Gujarat and Maharashtra.
 
He will also lay the foundation stone for the four-laning of key stretches of National Highway-56, a project expected to improve connectivity in tribal regions and enhance access to the Statue of Unity.
 
In the healthcare sector, the Prime Minister will inaugurate a 200-bed Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital in Surat. The facility will offer secondary healthcare services across multiple specialties and provide round-the-clock emergency and trauma care.
 
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate several utility and industrial infrastructure projects, including transmission network expansion works under the Inter-State Transmission System, power distribution upgrades in Valsad, effluent treatment and disposal infrastructure at Dahej Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region and Sarigam GIDC, as well as utility facilities at the Jambusar Bulk Drug Park.
 
Later in the evening, Prime Minister Modi will travel to Daman, where he will inaugurate the new terminal building of NAMO Airport and dedicate NAMO Hospital to the nation. Together with other projects, developments worth around ₹1,340 crore will be inaugurated or dedicated during the programme.
 
The new airport terminal is expected to strengthen regional air connectivity and support economic activity in the region. NAMO Hospital, developed as the district hospital for Daman, has the capacity to cater to nearly 1,500 outpatients daily and is expected to improve access to quality healthcare services.
 
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for projects worth around ₹1,630 crore in Daman. These include the Iconic Bridge, the Daman Convention Centre and a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus. The projects are expected to promote tourism, attract investment, generate employment opportunities and enhance public infrastructure.
 
In addition, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone of four development projects worth around ₹885 crore for the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
 
The projects include the development of port facilities on both the eastern and western sides of Kalpeni and Kadmat islands. The multipurpose jetties will enable year-round berthing of large passenger and cruise vessels, improve cargo and passenger handling and provide facilities for fish processing, fuel distribution, ice supply and boat repair.
